State Attorney Dennis Ward Registers as a Republican

Ward acknowledged today that he has left the Democratic Party and registered with the Grand Old Party. Further, he wants to be involved and says he is looking forward to attending tomorrow night's meeting of the Southernmost Republicans....not that he hadn't amassed GOP club frequent flyer miles anyway.
Ward was nonchalant about the change of party affiliation, admitting that the Key West Democrats didn't really offer him a home, and the Upper Keys Dems didn't feel it important enough to show up at the polls to overcome Catherine Vogel's southern advantage.
Exploring his options, Ward has made overtones that he may get back into the restaurant business, having once run Keys Fisheries in Marathon. But does the change of party clothes suggest Ward is eyeing a payback challenge for State Attorney in 2016 by leveraging his more northern, and conservative support base? Suggesting anything is possible, he diminished the potential likely hood of such a run. Citing age, and the toll an arduous Keys campaign imparts on you, he said that that race was unlikely, but refrained from ruling it out.
He did instead leave another potential teaser on the table...County Commission. Ward lives in the District currently held by Mayor David Rice, himself a Republican. Now that might prove to be an interesting showdown in 2014. Ward may find himself with a tidal wave of backers County wide now that David Rice couldn't muster the courage to fire our ethically challenged County Administrator Roman Gastesi.

ReplyDeleteWhy is Ward blaming the Democrats? He blames his own Democratic party in a primary election? He certainly isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer...but we all know that.
ReplyDeleteThen Ward becomes a "political prostitute" by joining the Republicans where some of the very Conch families he claims turned against him are long time members? Just more BS coming from a guy who will do anything to act like a big shot.
Ward is a bully and a cry baby...no body wants him. Go back to Miami and back to bullying people on foot patrol.
